Where do you build custom homes?
We build custom homes across North Central Florida, serving communities in Gainesville, Newberry, Alachua, High Springs, Jonesville and more. Our office is located at 14245 SW 4th Place, Suite 10, Newberry, FL 32669.
How long have you been building?
We were founded in 1972 as Spain Construction Company, grew into Spain & Cooper Homes, and have built across North Central Florida for more than 50 years. In 2022, third-generation Gainesville builder Tyson Riggins took ownership of the company, and in 2026 we became Riggins Design + Build, carrying that half-century tradition into a new chapter.
Are you a licensed contractor?
Yes. Riggins Design + Build holds Florida Certified Building Contractor license CBC 1256909. You can look up any Florida contractor license on the Florida DBPR website, myfloridalicense.com.
Can I build one of your floor plans, or does it have to be fully custom?
Either. You can choose one of our proven floor plans and make it your own, or start fully custom from scratch.
Who helps me with design and selections?
Design and construction are under one roof. Lauren Halvorson, our designer and project manager, works with our clients on site daily, managing selections, vendors, deliveries and budgets.
How will I know how my build is going?
Every client gets their own login to our custom-built client portal, so you can follow your build from your phone or computer at any time. You will see live job photos as your home goes up, along with your invoices, expenses and selections, and you can review and sign selections right in the portal. Everything about your job is in one place, so you never have to wait on a phone call to know where things stand.
Can you help me find a lot?
Yes! Our builder representatives work with Riggins Design + Build and will walk you through the whole process before construction starts. They can tour different lots with you, talk through the pros and cons of each one and help you find the right lot for the home you have in mind.
Which Newberry communities have you built in?
Our Newberry homes include houses in Wexford, Heathrow, Barrington, Old Oak Estates, Flint Rock, Wilds Plantation, Greystone, Wimberley and more. You can see each one in our portfolio.
